As the nights are becoming longer I decided to revisit M33, the Triangulum galaxy. M33 is a lovely galaxy which fills the frame of my Orion 200mm Ritchey-Chretien telescope. At the beginning of September the nights were clear and warm which is always a bonus when sitting under the stars. The advantage of Covid and home working is not having to drive to work in the morning and being able to pack away the telescope after the dew has gone.
October 2019

To have a fair comparison with my latest M33 picture I processed the 2019 data using the same tools as the picture below i.e. DSS and Startools.
Anyway, much to my relief the picture quality in 2019 was not as good as todays. Since 2019 I have learned how to autoguide and dither. The noise level in this picture say this as I am relieved that the September 2020 has improved.

I am happy to think that I am improving and find this picture very pleasing although the details are not as sharp as I would like.

the Winter months I hope to get something a bit better, although larger and more detailed may not be a reasonable objective.

Apologies for the bad picture as it was taken on my curved monitor.
