Profile: Duncan

Hi, my name is Duncan and I have been a keen photographer for many years. I started with macro photography which developed over the years into all types of subjects. I even tried colliding water droplets controlled with an Arduino.

In 2018 I turned my camera upwards to the night sky. It all started with a telescope I bought at a flea market which I connected to a Raspberry Pi camera. This was a disaster but the outcome was that the astronomy bug bit me. Since then I have been learning by doing, watching Youtube, reading books and absorbing any other available information.

My biggest step forward was to join the astronomy club and to meet with other enthusiasts. Talking with colleagues has been an eye opener as this an excellent way to find out what is happening in the night skies and to develop new ideas. It still amazes me that from the comfort of your home it is possible to take pictures of nebula and distant galaxies that a few years ago would have been unthinkable. Keep spreading the word and showing the enthusiasm in our hobby.

Clear skies to everyone,

Duncan
